Immediate preparation for reception of First Reconciliation takes place in the first semester of Level 2 (second grade).

CATECHESIS
1.  One year preparation takes place before formal catechesis for First Reconciliation.
2.  Children should have basic knowledge and understanding of:
                 a.  God, as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
                 b.  God's personal love for each person.
                 c.  The Church and the People of God.
                 d.  The Sacrament of Baptism.
                 e.  Prayer as a response to God's love.
                 f.  Traditional Prayers:
                      1.  Our Father
                      2.  Hail Mary
                      3.  Sign of the Cross

IMMEDIATE PREPARATION
1.  Preparation for the practical aspects (concepts) of the sacrament:
                  a.  Two Great Commandments.
                  b.  Sin, a refusal to love God, others and ourselves.
                  c.  God is always ready to forgive.
                  d.  Through the Church we publicly acknowledge God's forgiveness through the
                       Sacrament of Reconciliation.
                  e.  Understanding the sacramental encounter with God.
                   f.  Having children look at their actions and the attitudes behind their actions.
                  g.  Knowing how to receive the sacrament (Form of Confession).
                  h.  Articulating the Act of Contrition.
